Overview
This article explains how to generate your Meraki Dashboard API key and add it to Splash Access. The API key allows Splash Access to authenticate with your Meraki organisation and retrieve network information. You will also learn how to select a default network once the key has been added.
1. Generate Your Meraki API Key
Your API key is created from your Meraki Dashboard profile. The key is linked to the administrator account that generates it and inherits the same permissions as that account.
- Log in to the Meraki Dashboard.
- Navigate to My Profile.
- Scroll to the API Access section.
- Select Generate API Key.
- Copy and securely store the key.
Meraki does not store API keys in plaintext. This is the only time you will be able to view them. If the key is lost or forgotten, you must revoke it and generate a new one.
2. Add the API Key to Splash Access
Once your API key has been generated, it must be added to Splash Access.
- Log in to your Splash Access Dashboard.
- Navigate to Meraki API Settings.
- Locate the Meraki API section.
- Paste your API key into the API Key field.
- Select Update to save the configuration.
3. Select a Default Network
After the API key is added, Splash Access will retrieve your available Meraki networks.
- Open the Default Network dropdown.
- Choose the network you want to assign as the default for the account.
